gee + ron :: breakdown of a “photographer’s wedding”

Posted on July 16, 2012

“This is a photographer’s wedding” Justin said to me at some point during their day. By “a photographer’s wedding” I don’t mean that it’s the wedding of a photographer (as Gee is one) but rather it really catered perfectly to the needs and creativity of a photographer. In other words, it was the perfect wedding to photograph (can you tell? I couldn’t really narrow down the images I wanted to blog haha).

With a late ceremony, it allowed for a relaxed morning, getting ready at the hotel.  Hotels are awesome because it adds to that editorial feel to photographs, instead of the more…residential feel? Gee and Ron did The Reveal and then we roamed about Toronto for their portrait session. Toronto always allows for great variety and creativity for photographs! Their ceremony took place on a private residence and was bookended by prayer. It was moving to see how families and friends just surrounded Gee and Ron with so much prayer. The wedding was filled with personalized and subtle details which always make us excited. When we see fresh new wedding details, we feel rejuvenated and inspired as well. After all, shooting the same generic stuff over and over again can get boring. The entire evening was small and intimate, short and sweet. Enough emotion for powerful images and for it to be touching but no sobbing or “ugly crying” lol

Lastly, it was perfect because we were photographing two people we know, care about and love. Gee and Ron’s wedding day was so “them” and for me, it added such a huge layer of authenticity to the day and subsequently the photos. Like their engagement photos, it felt honest.

This wedding will go in the books as most enjoyable and memorable for me personally :)

    you keep outdoing yourself, Claud. So beautiful, felt like I was a guest too!
    The black and white, blurry pic of the father kissing the bride – takes the ticket.
    Not to mention, these two have style and class. I like. Congrats to you and them :)
