Kaye and Victor’s wedding will go down as one of the most enjoyable and memorable weddings I’ve shot. It’s not for the reason you probably think (i.e. because it took place in Hawaii) but rather because of the subtleties of their day from Victor’s custom suit, to the color palette, and Kaye’s bangin’ job at doing her own make up. Like seriously, when I was taking test shots I was in awe of how outstanding it was– and I’ve seen my fair share of make up on brides! Of course there was their awesome wedding party who were so easy to talk to and get along with… I felt like I was hanging out with my own friends. And yes, tied under the umbrella of being in Hawaii was a perfect way to seal the deal for the whole event.
Honolulu was a challenging place to shoot because for the most part, it’s quite commercial with shops/stores and people all around. I had to take a couple of days, zipping around on a bicycle, to scout and come up with a game plan. Since their photos would happen pretty much mid-day when the sun was high above, I also had to find areas that were appropriate for lighting at that time of day. Of course, nothing could account for the insane winds on their wedding hehe All in all, it was a perfect combination of getting inspired by the couple as well as the environment/scenery that led to some photos that I’m quite proud of.
I’m doing their posts a little out of the usual order of Engagement first then Wedding but I was just so psyched about their wedding images that I had to share. Hope you enjoy them :)
