WHAT I'M UP TO:

Lug Travel + Frommers = Good Stuff

A while back I was flown down to Dallas to shoot a new line for Lug Travel.  I couldn’t post the images yet because they hadn’t publicly announced their partnership with Frommers! Yeah the people who make those cool travel books you always use when you go on vacation.  Here’s a small clip of us working behind the scenes (and yes, we’re rocking out to my playlist which includes New Kids on the Block lol)

For this particular shoot, Lug wanted to go for a more sophisticated, advertising look so we brought the shoot indoors for a bit, and hired Josh Duhamel as a model.  This also meant finding a cool location to shoot and also, LIGHTING! Yes, lighting indoors is very different than lighting outdoors.  There was a lot more set up and it slowed down the pace when changing scenes but it was really neat and challenging to do something different.  It’s so great to work with other creatives who are willing to take risks and also to listen to your input.  It was also challenging not having an assistant there.  Anytime I needed a light to be adjusted I had to do it myself or I had to actually carry my own gear around! *gasp* How outrageous!! haha jk It’s all good.  It just slowed things down even more but in the end, I think we got some really cool shots.

For Wednesday’s shoot, it was all done indoors because our talent gets cold easily so we gotta do what she says!  Although we were shooting indoors, I was using the big office windows as my main light so it provided a nice soft, natural feel to the images.  I used my SB-800 along with the Origami to throw a tad bit of light up and forward as a really subtle fill.  I’ve figured out (after 4 years of shooting for Lug) that the bags look really good when there’s some light just grazing the front fabric.  Has a lovely sheen to it! My flash was almost always at 1/64th of a power.
