I do a very limited number of family shoots each year just because my schedule is so hectic but when Juwon asked me, I couldn’t resist! I photographed Juwon’s family when Malachi was turning one year old so it’d only be fitting that Noah had his photo taken before he turns one on Saturday too. I love photographing kids because of the array of expressions and randomness that you’ll get in a matter of seconds. They hardly need coaching (except to look into the lens) but even then, a lot of the shots of them looking away are great. At what point do we all learn to “behave” in front of the camera and become stagnant robots who have a perma-smile on? Who decided that a good picture meant you had to be smiling anyway? Meh.
