Uganda, One Year Later…

This time last year, I was on assignment in Uganda with my art director buddy Jen, my hubby Wilson and the founder of Raising The Village, Shawn. As cliche as it sounds, it’s really incredible how a year has flown by. It’s also been incredible how that trip has impacted Continue Reading →

Physical, tactile, prints.
I forgot the feeling of how it makes pictures “real.”

4 things to keep you out of that winter funk

I was having coffee with another photographer the other day when he asked how I deal with the winter funk. You know, the time of the year when we start feeling unmotivated and we think our work sucks. So I shared with him 4 things I do to help me get through these potentially depressing months ahead. Thanks Black Rapid!

A shoutout to BlackRapid for hooking me up with the RS WS-1 strap! I’ve been a fan and a user of their straps for year, owning both the RS-4 and RS-5. And now, I get to enjoy the Continue Reading →

Before I Was a Photographer, I Was a…

Don’t worry, it’s nothing scandalous! :)

Wilson and I spent the day cleaning out this little nook we have in the corner full of just stuff we store there. It’s incredible how much CRAP you can accumulate and fit into a small area! It was a lot of work but really fun to dig through forgotten treasures, childhood memories and the like. It was also rewarding to find some lost objects like my original iPod, some Pocket Wizards and some of my old artwork.
One of my most prized possessions in the world is my Continue Reading →

amusement

As I was editing this photo I laughed out loud because it totally looks like there is a baby palm tree growing next to it! I don’t know anything about palm trees but man, the most random and silly things amuse me :)

GIFT IT TWICE

For those who don’t already know, I have a charitable affiliation with Raising The Village. I believe so much in what they are doing and how they are making real, lasting changes in people’s lives that I flew all the way to Uganda to see for myself and to document the journey at the beginning of this year.

Welp, their Gift It Twice program is BACK! This time, postcards have newer, snazzier photos because…they were taken by me ;) hehe No but really. Want to avoid the mall? Check. Want to get your holiday shopping done and DONE? Check. Want economical, affordable gifts that are meaningful and impactful? Check. Want your gift to get delivered to your loved ones’ mailbox? Check. Want your gifts come with a tax receipt? Sign me up.

By sending a loved one a postcard this holiday season, you are also directly helping Raising The Village initiatives like supplying water, school supplies or farming supplies to hard-to-reach, rural communities in Uganda. Give to your loved ones; give to those who are in incredible need.
Win-win-win.

My Shelf!

So you’re probably wondering what the big deal is about a shelf. The thing about me is that for some reason, I am really horrible at interior design or Continue Reading →
